The Center for Economic and Civic Learning at Ball State University invites students, faculty, and community members to a featured talk. This event will feature Minnijean Brown-Trickey, a member of the Little Rock Nine who, as a teenager, helped integrate Central High School in 1957 under federal protection—one of the defining moments in the history of American education and democracy. Beyond that moment, she has spent decades as an educator, community leader, and international advocate for equity, youth engagement, and civic life. Her work has included leadership in education and civic initiatives in both the United States and Canada, as well as contributions to national and global conversations on human rights and democratic responsibility. In this talk, she will reflect on her experiences and explore a central question: What does the work of democracy require of students, educators, and citizens today? This event is part of Ball State University’s Constitution Week bringing together students, faculty, and educators from across Indiana. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged. Seating is first-come, first-served. Doors will open at 6:30 PM. Parking information and additional event details will be shared prior to the event.
